SUCCESS was founded in 1973 to assist new Canadians of Chinese descent to overcome language and cultural barriers, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has evolved into a multicultural, multiservice agency assisting people of many different cultural backgrounds at all stages of their Canadian experience. See their upcoming events on employment, English classes, citizenship exam, financial literacy, BC driver’s licence etc.
The program has two components: peer support groups and training to facilitate these groups.

Finding yourself feeling down and missing your relatives? Feeling lost in Canadian Society? Come and meet other immigrant woman and learn about your community, education, employment, healthcare etc. while sharing your stories in a safe and supportive environment. Practice your English and meet new friends. Free childcare and snacks available.

DIVERSEcity – Women’s Health and Wellbeing Drop-in
This drop in group is available for eligible newcomer adult women interested in self care and well being. Through activities, guest speakers, and facilitated conversation women explore themes around health and well being and get the opportunity to connect with other newcomers.

Vancouver Lower Mainland Family Services Society – Support and Educational Groups
Offers individual counseling, advocacy and support at or out of the office and over the phone by bi-lingual/bi-cultural workers (Mandarin and Cantonese included). Group counseling and support, counseling to women experiencing abuse/violence, crisis intervention and referrals available.

ELSA stands for English Language Services for Adults. The ELSA program provides basic and intermediate level English training for adult newcomers to Canada. ELSA is government-funded and is free to students.
If you are a permanent resident or new citizen, you can access the ELSA program.
If you do not have permanent residency or citizenship, you can take English classes at the following organizations:
